About Ourea

Hello, and welcome!

Hi, we're Shaylyn and Chris, founders of Ourea. We are biologists and expedition guides who created this company because we wanted reliable, beautiful, and more sustainable neck gaiters to wear on all of our adventures. We are constantly working to improve our products and find ways to mitigate our global impact, so you'll see our company change and grow as we do. We'd love to hear from you, so reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Thanks for joining us here!

Keeping people & planet in mind

The apparel industry can never achieve zero impact, though we feel it is our duty to be as ethical and sustainably focused as possible. We hope to inspire other businesses to follow suit and promote Earth stewardship.

We have carefully chosen manufacturing partners who demonstrate commitment to responsible production and sustainable practices. Our one-stop production team of full-time employees has earned Hey Social Good gold in all three categories (Sustainability, Social Good, Give Back).

All of Ourea’s products are made from either recycled polyester or BCI certified organic cotton and we aim to expand our products using more natural fiber materials.

Recycled Polyester

Recycled polyester is a high-performance fiber that has transformed billions of recycled plastic bottles into functional polyester. Using cutting-edge textile technology, rPET delivers comfort, durability, and superior moisture-wicking capabilities, keeping the wearer dry and cool. The fabric is also naturally stain, odour, and wrinkle-resistant. Though not a natural fiber, rPET reduces the need for raw materials and generates 79% less carbon emissions than standard polyester.

Better Cotton Initiative

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global not-for-profit organization that works to facilitate sustainable cotton production worldwide. BCI is dedicated to more sustainable farming practices (like reducing the use of pesticides & conserving water) while improving the livelihoods of farmers and their communities. All of our Polar product lines are lined with fleece-like fabric made from organic cotton from BCI.
